Phil Waldrep (born 1960) is an ordained Southern Baptist minister, speaker and author that leads one of the largest religious conference ministries in the United States. A native of Alabama, Waldrep began speaking at age 14 in rural Baptist churches in Alabama. By the time of his high school graduation at 16, he was in demand as a public speaker. In 1980 he formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Phil Waldrep Evangelistic Association, to "share the gospel by all means, traditional and nontraditional." In 1984, the organization started sponsoring church youth camps that drew hundreds of church groups each year. In 1992, the organization expanded the retreats to include retreats for women, men, and senior adults. Celebrators, the Senior Adult Celebrations, offer draws attendance in excess of 15,000 people. Among a number of family and parenting topics he has addressed, Waldrep has written and spoken on the subject of children who rebel against their parents, the so-called ''prodigal child''. His work on this subject appeared on the nationally syndicated radio program, FamilyLife Today on October 27–29, 2004.
